How about that? I recently finished a big collection of Dashiell Hammett stories called "The Big Knockdown" and just last night ran across the original Max Headroom BBC short film: https://youtu.be/aZY-yQYVf38?si=eEoSTcAzbjmUUi0u.
Reading Hammett is something else because you know he's not making it up. Sure, making some of it up, but it's all coming out of his actual experience. Gibson is always a pleasure too, I found myself jotting down some of his sentences, like "teeth so white and straight they could be used as a credit reference."
Have you ever been to John's Grill in SF? Hammett wrote a lot of the Maltese Falcon there, and they have a small shrine to him upstairs → https://www.johnsgrill.com/
I don't get to SF very often, but now I'll have to look that up. Little high-school me caught The Maltese Falcon on cable (somehow we had illegal cable, very Cyber) and my jaw just dropped. I do have a Noir character coming up in my Mars novel. Enos Minus, Duct Technician, 3rd Class. He's half-cyborg. Which half? He's not telling. http://mars.tikimojo.com

I wrote this in 1992 (updated in 1996) as my senior thesis in college, and became a huge Hammett fan researching and reading his work.
